Catholic Saints' Names and their Meanings to our Lives
The Church recognizes over 10,000 catholic saints' names because of their major contributions in reinforcing the catholic faith to its members. Here are some of the popular catholic saints' names and their brief story.
St. Joan of Arc is the patron saint of soldiers who are in battle. She was born on the 6th of January 1412 to pious French peasants in the village of Domremy. At an early age, she began hearing voices of St. Michael, St. Catherine and St. Margaret something which is believed to have contributed to her military success.
St Martin de Porres is another great catholic saint whose love was all-embracing and shown equally to all kinds of humans from all classes and extending it even to animals of the lowest form. Another is St. Peter or Simon Peter, known as the first pope and Prince of the Apostles and founder, together with St. Paul, of the See of Rome. According to well known tradition, he died crucified upside down on the Vatican Hill because he proclaimed himself undeserving to die the same way Jesus did on the cross. Ever since the Catholic Church has been established, he was recognized as the Prince of Apostles and first Holy See.
